Description
Premium Cycloastragenol (CAG) is a triterpenoid saponin with potential longevity properties. The substance works by activating telomerase, which is a nucleoprotein enzyme that catalyses the synthesis of telomeric DNA. Specifically, telomerase add specific DNA sequences to the ends of our chromosomes. It counteracts the natural shortening of telomeres that occurs during each round of cell division or when subject to oxidative stress.
Telomeres are protective structures at the ends of chromosomes that consist of repetitive DNA sequences and associated proteins. During cell divisions, the DNA replication process is not able to copy the very end of each chromosome which leads to a gradual shortening of telomeres with each division.
Oxidative stress and other factors can also accelerate telomere shortening. Oxidative stress occurs when there is an imbalance between the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and the body’s ability to neutralize them. ROS can damage cellular components, including DNA, and contribute to accelerated aging.
Moreover, cycloastragenol is also used as an immunostimulant because of its ability to increase T-lymphocyte proliferation. T-cells plays a role by killing infected host cells, in producing cytokines, and by activating the other immune cells.
Function
People take premium cycloastragenol (CAG) for a variety of reasons.
- Telomeres. It is linked to the protection of telomeres, the protective caps at the end of chromosomes associated with aging. Research suggests that it may activate an enzyme called telomerase, which plays a role in maintaining telomere length and potentially slowing down cellular aging.
- Anti-Aging. The prospective telomere-protective effects contribute to its reputation as an anti-aging compound. By supporting cellular health and longevity, cycloastragenol is believed to potentially delay the onset of age-related conditions.
- Immune System. Studies indicate that cycloastragenol may enhance immune function by promoting the proliferation and activity of immune cells. It may modulate cytokine production, contributing to a balanced and responsive immune system.
- Heart. CAG has shown promise in promoting cardiovascular health. It may have vasodilatory effects, helping to relax blood vessels and improve blood flow, which may benefit heart health.
- Neuroprotective. Some research suggests that cycloastragenol may have neuroprotective properties. It may support brain health by reducing oxidative stress and inflammation.
- Anti-Inflammatory. Cycloastragenol (CAG) may exhibit anti-inflammatory effects, contributing to its overall health-promoting properties. By modulating inflammatory pathways, it may help mitigate chronic inflammation associated with various health conditions.
- Adaptogenic. Adaptogens are substances that may help the body adapt to stress, and cycloastragenol is considered an adaptogenic compound. It may support the body’s response to stress and help maintain balance in the face of environmental challenges.
- Bone Health. Some studies suggest that the compound may play a role in supporting bone health. It may enhance bone mineralization and density, potentially reducing the risk of osteoporosis.
