Description
Organic Epimedium Extract (Barrenwort, HGW) is a traditional herbal that is used for a few different purposes. Particularly the active flavonoid known as Icariin is popular for their vitality increasing effect in men and women as a naturally.
Preliminary research indicate the substance may have broad physiological effects as an anti-inflammatory antioxidant, in reducing stress and improving mood, but also in repairing bone fractures. Furthermore, animal studies of rats have found a markedly decrease beta-amyloid-induced toxicity, i.e. the biological marker of the memory issues that usually emerge as we age.
Note, purchases for epimedium have been disabled to Japan, South Korea and the Netherlands (see PayPal policy). Some products may be available from our sister store vitamondo.eu.
Function
People take organic epimedium extract for a variety of reasons.
- Anti-Inflammatory. Icariin has been shown to inhibit the production and activity of pro-inflammatory mediators, such as cytokines and chemokines. Studies have also demonstrated it can reduce the levels of inflammatory markers, such as necrosis factor-alpha and interleukins. These markers are associated with inflammation and play roles in the progression of various inflammatory diseases.
- Heart. Icariin may have cardiovascular benefits by promoting blood vessel dilation and improving blood flow. Atherosclerosis is a condition characterized by the buildup of plaque in the arteries, which reduces blood flow.
- Cognition. Research suggests epimedium may have neuroprotective effects by protecting neurons from damage. The administration of epimedium has been able to increase the blood flow to the brain and showed improved learning ability and memory.
- Bones. Some studies suggest that icariin may have positive effects on bone health by strengthening bone mineral density and contributing to overall skeletal health. By stimulating the activity of osteoblasts it enhances their ability to build and repair bone tissue.
- Joints. The anti-inflammatory properties may extend to supporting joint health. It may help reduce inflammation in the joints, making it beneficial for joint-related conditions.
- Respiration. Epimedium can be helpful in alleviating airway inflammation by decreasing the activities of proteins that are responsible for the production of leukocytes in inflammatory areas in the lungs.
- Intimacy. The primary bioactive compound in epimedium brevicornum, icariin, is known for its effects on drive. It is believed to improve male function by inhibiting the activity of PDE5, which increases nitric oxide levels and enhances blood flow.
- Longevity. In a study on the effects of the flavonoids derived from the epimedium plants, it was found that many age related metabolites showed evidence of being reset at a younger level (amino acids, unsaturated-, saturated fatty acids).
- Regulation. Icariin may have a regulatory effect on various hormones (t. and e.). This hormonal modulation could contribute to improved reproductive health in men.
- Potential Anti-Cancerogenic. Preliminary research has explored the potential of icariin to inhibit the growth of malignant cells growth and induce apoptosis. Apoptosis, which is a programmed cell death it is crucial in preventing the uncontrolled growth of cells. Another potential benefit is that it may disrupt the normal progression of the cell cycle. A third is the anti-angiogenic effect means it may inhibit the formation of new blood vessels, which limits blood supply to tumors and thus growth.
