Kojic Acid Dipalmitate (KAD) Powderis an ester of kojic acid that is easily absorbed in the skin and can efficiently reduce the formation of dark shades of melanin by inhibiting tyrosinase activity. KAD is known to penetrate the skin and retain moisture, restore collagen function, repair damaged skin, prevent facial wrinkles, keep the skin smooth and elastic, along with accelerating the metabolism of new cells.
KAD is more stable to light, heat, pH and oxidation, and it does not react with metal ions compared to plain kojic acid. By contrast, plain kojic acid begins to oxidize when exposed to light and heat, which means the color change yellow or beige. It also begins to chelate with metal ions, such as iron, which results in more color changes.

KAD can also be used to make a soap by first dissolving it in oily base (e.g. mineral oil, propylene glycol or isopropyl myristate) and then adding to the soap.
