Description
Premium Ferulic Acid 98% is an antioxidant naturally found in minimal amounts in a variety of plants, such as flowers, vegetables, cereals, leafs, seeds and fruits. The acid is both an antioxidant in itself and known to boost other antioxidants, such as vitamins C and E.
As a tyrosinase inhibitor, it works as a whitening agent when applied on the skin. The phenolic acid can also efficiently combat free radicals, which means reducing age-related decline, including fine lines, age spots and wrinkles.
Function
People use ferulic acid for a number of reasons.
- Skin Care. The acid is commonly used in skincare products for its protective and anti-aging properties. When applied topically, it helps defend the skin against UV radiation-induced damage by absorbing the light and preventing the formation of harmful free radicals. Additionally, it enhances the stability and effectiveness of other antioxidants like vitamins C and E, further boosting their skin-protective benefits. It also helps reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation, resulting in smoother, more youthful-looking skin.
- Anti-inflammatory Action. Ferulic acid exhibits anti-inflammatory properties by inhibiting the production of inflammatory molecules and modulating inflammatory pathways in the body. By reducing inflammation, it may alleviate symptoms associated with inflammatory conditions.
- Potent Antioxidant. It’s a potent antioxidant that helps neutralize harmful free radicals in the body. By scavenging free radicals, it protects cells from oxidative damage and reduces inflammation, which can contribute to various chronic diseases.
- Heart Health. Some research suggests that ferulic acid can have cardioprotective effects by lowering blood pressure, improving blood vessel function, and reducing cholesterol levels. By promoting cardiovascular health, it may help reduce the risk of heart conditions.
- Neuroprotective. The acid has shown promise in protecting brain cells from oxidative damage and neurodegeneration. Studies suggest that it may help improve cognitive function, enhance memory and learning, and reduce the risk of neurodegenerative conditions.
- Anti-Cancer Potential. Ferulic acid exhibits anticancer activity by inhibiting the growth and proliferation of dysfunctioning cells, inducing apoptosis (programmed cell death), and preventing tumor formation and progression. It may also help protect against DNA damage and oxidative stress, which are implicated in the development of cancer.
